Re: Is it just me...
Hi Wendy, good to hear from you, start as many debates here as you want as it's the debate forum, ha ha! :)
As a WF moderator I usually choose not to get drawn into debates there in case I later need to take action, eg move a thread, which may then be seen as unfair. Besides, I am usually happy to go along with what the majority think.
That said, I will speak up if I think safety is involved. Since the eating disorders issue was brought up, I am now more vigilant. Looking at an earlier moderators comments on a recent issue I took sides on, I quote:
"I really do care for you! But I also care for all the young girls who are reading your posts. I have a niece who almost killed herself eating and fasting the way you are blogging here."
So I am glad I did what I did.
Now people harming themselves (and potentially others) makes me feel bad when they ask for my encouragement me as a (thus far) successful weight loss faster. However what was once "you can do it", may now me "don't do it".
I think the people arguing against the blog type posts below did have a valid point though. Now that I am speaking in the debate forum I don't mind saying my personal view, not that I wish to attach much importance to it because I am not really that fussed. I think it may be a better idea for people to post a summary about non WF stuff rather than a very long post, e.g.
"Day X was difficult for me, I avoided a family meal, had a dry throat and was tired. If you wat to know more see my blog at xxxxx. Thanks!" Then you give people the choice. I think that was already suggested anyway.
Also I think we do get lots of people landing there when they do have eating disorders. These problems are often associated with other issues too, such as bipolar, OCD, ADHD, low self esteem.
Anyway as you say the other forum would be boring and sterile if we just talked about water fasting, we need some chat there. But we do, recently juice cleanse, changing the FAQ, non-protein nitrogen, Natural Beauty, Brain Power videos. Maybe we need a few more of those now that Jaymz's dulcit singing tones have gone?
