Re: A question for Ptree.....

Hi Terry!

Glad to hear you're doing better!

The formula that you have sounds pretty good...you probably won't see any mucoid plaque, but it should help with your bowel functioning and soothe and heal the lining. L-glutamine is an amino acid found in abundance in the GI tract and necessary for healing the gut. A product called IntestiNew by ReNew contains glutamine as well as other nutrients and herbs that help to heal the mucosal lining. Aloe vera juice, slippery elm, cranesbill and DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice) are also soothing and healing.

The pain you describe just above your belly button is probably your transverse colon. Your pancreas is more to the left and a little higher up.

Yes, try the pancreatin...it may help. Also, try betaine HCL to see how you tolerate it. Hydrochloric acid is the acid in your stomach and is necessary for digestion...many people have low HCL levels. This acid also triggers the release of your body's own pancreatic enzymes. Some people have excessive stomach acid and using HCL will cause a burning sensation, though...so proceed slowly and pay close attention to how your body responds. There are sophisticated ways to test your stomach acid level, but the simplest is to do a trial of HCL...if no discomfort is experienced than you probably need it. Curiously, some people who have acid reflux, sour stomach, etc. are actually low in HCL, too...so you can't use this a determinant of your stomach acid levels.

Candida and parasites can certainly cause some of the problems you are having, too...so address them as you are able.

Also, you might want to look for a vitamin supplement that does not contain iron. Iron supplements can be very constipating for lots of people.

Liver congestion may also be causing some of your digestive problems...you might try a slow liver cleanse by taking 1-3 tablespoons of olive oil a day and follow this with a glass of water with fresh lemon juice...one half to a whole lemon should do. Or coffee enemas might help.

Just go slow with anything that you do so that you don't overwhelm yourself!
