Re: 5,000 IU a day of Vitamin D - too much?

great thanks. i think i am fine at 5,000 IU then. its just weird how there is so much differing opinion all over the web on this issue. but if the body makes 20,000 in just 20 minutes then i cant imagine 5,000 can be harmful.

i just wonder if the body has a built in mechanism to stop or slow down vit D production once it has enough sunlight? so at some point it slows way down. but taking a supplement is different.

anyway i tend to think that the real issue is having enough fat to metabolize the D. i read about people who accidently got 230,000 IU of D for several months and suffered headaches and other symptoms but were basically ok after some treatment.
