And....
If we save one life, it will make all this worth every word written. Whether we get it right or not, if just one woman escapes, or if one woman reads all these posts and understands, and if one woman can pick up on our strengths and experience.....
The only way we can do this is by our strength of convictions, to not mince words, to get down to the nitty gritty of the situation. We may be wrong because of writing is a skillset that not everyone has. I sometimes find it very difficult to post coherently, or to really say what I mean. So it's a hit and miss thing. Perhaps someone hasn't given us all the information? I think herb-gal actually was in a funk, and what one of us hasn't said some (or thought) some pretty crappy things about our partner when we are pissed, or upset?
So, you dig...and eventually the person is able to really start to define what they really feel, or more details. And you might find out that the situation is not as dire as originally thought. There is no harm in calling the guy a jerk, even an NPD. It's like throwing cold water on the face of the poster. They might rethink about what they've written.
Writing is hard. No facial expressions, no body language. As my husband said, "On the internet no one can hear you scream..[UNLESS YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS]."
