Re: Could there possibly be a relationship...
I am not sure if it is the size or the shape of the colon that determines the frequency and quantity of bowel movements. In my doctor's office he has some drawings of poorly functioning colons, based on surgical descriptions, hanging on the wall of a therapy room. I have spent a lot of time staring at those pictures over the past five years since my first spinal injury. The pictures show unhealthy colons that are drooping, uneven in width, nearly choked off by a narrowed section, and with huge sac-like pouches. None of them look like the common idea of the large intestine. He said those pictures represents how many modern day colons appeared. As you are improving your health and diet, especially by adding needed vegetable fiber, I imagine your lower bowel is returning to its ideal shape and size.
Several years ago I had a massive release, first of what is commonly called mucoid plaque, it was hard and rubbery and studded with orange and white worms, it was almost four feet long. After the movement I jumped on the scales and was five pound lighter than I was that morning. The next day I passed another large chunk of the hard rubbery stuff followed by a couple of feet of what was obviously psyllium gel. After a year and a half of off and on colon cleansing I passed a lot of built up gunk. This only happened that one time. I have done several
Colon Cleanses since and never had that kind of release.
You probably passed a lot of old stuff as well as your dietary fiber. It may take a while to get filled back up, especially if your transit time is a little slow. Cascara Sagrada might improve your intestinal muscle tone, but don't get too dependent on it. Stick with your high fiber diet, plenty of water and try some abdominal muscle exercises to keep toned inside and out.
I always love reading your posts. Your enthusiasm is infectious.
