What could I have done?

I was burglarized yesteday. It was in the tens of thousands of dollars. It was heirlooms and precious momentos. I am not insured. This was a substantial amount of a life of savings.
What could I be doing to bring such tragedy into my life? What could I have done to be so violated by another human being?
I love my family and take care of them. I have been a good friend. I abide by the laws in my community.
I am so devistated by this I do not want to go on. And it is not just the material. It just can not take the pain involved. I have had so much and this is the fianl straw.
What could I have done to deserve this? What could I have done to cause this?
