Re: From The Valley To The Mountain And Back Again
God is love. He does not judge us, but loves us through our problems. Just as the guy in the Bible said,"I believe. Help my unbelief," You can say the same.
I have found that praying gets me through impossible situations. So does singing "Jesus loves me."
I have also found that things happen for reasons. Perhaps this will cause you to reach out for a support group. Perhaps you will lose your job and be able to now attend church on Sundays. Perhaps you will realize that this church is not supporting you as God wants to support you, and you look for another church. Perhaps you have to lean on God because He is all you have and you learn that he can be your Father, Mother, Husband, Brother.
I could barely work an hour a day a couple of years ago. By going on medication, I got a little better and then was able to work a few more hours per day. I started on iodine, and after three months, could not get my
Depression medication filled, and found out I could do without it. That encouraged me to see if I could go without the others. The hypertension was taken care of by the
Sea Salt . The diabetes needed a really strict diet of protein and vegetables. Now I can make enough money not only for my needs, but to tithe and have money to order something like
Iodine or probiotics for my family.
My car needed a starter, a battery, and a radiator on three separate occasions but within a week or two. God made sure I had money to pay for it. And even though I didn't eventually need it, the mechanic said, "This radiator has to be replaced. I can do it and you can pay me when you can."
One of my struggles as a single person has been that no one has my back. But God does. At first, all I could see was how I saw no way out. No way I could possibly pay my rent, food, supplements, etc. Then I remembered that my main goal is peace. So I always say to God, "Look, it is your job to help me with this, and to see that I am provided for." It took some time for me to really relax into this stance, where I can see God, my provider - El Shaddai, My Supplier, Jehovah Jireh, My Provider.
I heard the story of the lady who was recently widowed and doing all right, but her toilet wouldn't flush. She was not mechanically minded and try to adjust it as she could, she could not fix it. She finally got exasperated and said to God, "Look, you said you would be my Husband. My Husband could fix this toilet!" The toilet flushed.
The Bible says we have to be as a little child. A little child cannot provide for herself, she has to rely on someone else for shelter, food and clothing. It is true that God helps those who helps themselves, but you can help yourself by reaching out for encouragement, for information on financial assistance, maybe calling around to see what church in your area has a program to assist the disabled, by getting all the information on possibilities, by finding out what all your options are. Most cities have emergency money that they can give--requires standing in line usually, but is available. Call your councilman to find out what options you have with the city or the county.
I choose not to go on disability as long as I am able to provide my own income, and God has supported me in that. But if there is some kind of lesson I am to learn, or some change in course that God wants for me, and I have to get food stamps or apply for disability, I will trust that God knows what he is doing.
Do you know how to make God laugh? Tell him your plans! If you are tied into anything that you think is your support, for example, your job, your van, etc., you need to know that that is not your supply. God is your supply. The Universe is your supply. The hard part is to lean on Him. It gets much easier with practice, and now for me, it is natural.
I do not attend an organized church. I would love to find one that has a lot of programs with supportive, encouraging people. I have not tried very hard, I confess. I would like to have a loving, supportive encouraging husband. I have not tried very hard on that. I say to God: "If you want me to have a certain church, or a certain man, please put it/him right in front of me. I will do my part by keeping my eyes open, and my ears attuned to You. More than that, I trust you to choose for me, since my track record in choosing has not been good." In the meantime Christian television is my church.
But I thank God for my life, as it is, and I do not look at my limitations. God has to provide for me if I, as a small child, put my hand in His. And I believe that as long as I trust, and keep seeking peace, he will continue to bless me.
May he continue to bless you, as well. Lean on Him.
