Re: Liberal ARE capitalists - so are so called conservatives
I am not trying to insult anyone Luella and I don't believe that the people here are out for themselves but when they hold up someone like Ron Paul, who is a right wing ideologue as some sort of hero without even being willing to look at his dark side I find it very frustrating. I don't like Ron Paul any more than any of the others. I franl;y find him very scary especailly because so many seem to think he is going to be able to save us.
I have stated that I do like Dennis Kucinich more than any of them. But of course I was told that he is a typical liberal. That is how you shut someone up these days by calling them a liberal. It is the great insult of the last 30 years begun by Limbaugh and Prager and all the rest. The author of the article had some valid points to make about him. I agree with her. He IS anti-choice and he is xenophobic. I know a lot about him and I know where his ideology comes from and I don't want someone who is a right wing anti choice christian conservative market capitalist running my life. We already have that. I don't believe in that - That's no riddle - I gave a pretty good idea of why I feel that way. I don't think that most americans really understand what that means. I cannot go into it - it would take a lifetime - there are books to read and concepts to grasp. I want to stimulate people to stop buying the line that they are being fed from tv and talk show hosts. Raynbo posted an article and instead of examining it and looking at Pauls record as the author did, everyone just jumped on it and called her a liar basically. I get upset at that.
If the tone of my post was insulting I do apologise - I was upset but that is not a good excuse.
It is so easy to say that assistance programs keep people from helping themselves. I wonder if people who say that have ever been there themselves. I want people to be helped - I want them to be educated. I want single mothers to be able to care for their children and I want those children to be raised in a good way. I think that when we don't help people in need we all pay the price. Children who are punished because their mother made a youthful mistake often turn out to be criminals and it is an ongoing thing. I was one who felt we should have done more for them not less. We need to look at the roots of this and not just the surface. How can we do what we have done to people? We have committed genocide and enslaved people and this country was built on that. Many families profited from it. That needs to be acknowledged and ammends need to be made. Instead a majority of young black men go to prison. Why is this? This stuff does not go away. It continues to go on today. Go to any court house in the country and see who is on trial. The rich get away scot free though - interesting. Read John Perkins book "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" if you want to know what has been ging on all over the world in our name.
I can tell by your tone and your posts all over curezone that you are a kind and loving woman but I do believe that you and all the people who are so in love with Ron Paul need to take a little closer look and not just dismiss a post that was designed to ask you to do that out of hand. She may have some valid points to make and it should be thought about. We need to come up with new ideas and new ways of doing things. The old ways don't work. We are not going to get those new ideas from television or really from any of the candidates. But whoever IS elected we need to get on their case and stay on their case and not go back to sleep. The nation is in a trance - most people don't want to face the truth because it is so frightening. That's why I like the Pachamama organization - it is a new approach and a very kind and loving one.
I hope I am not continuing to sound insulting - I don't mean to be and again I apologize if I got carried away previously. I don't know how to tell someone whom I think they are uninformed in a kinder gentler way.
I could be wrong about Ron Paul, but I have examined him and listened to what he had to say and I don't like him.
He's not perfect and he won't get elected but I will be voting for Kucinich and if it is a choice between Clinton and any of the republicans I will probably vote for her even though I don't like her. I would vote more eagerly for Al Gore or Edwards than for Clinton. Yes I know all the
Conspiracy theories about all the ruling elite, and I understand why people believe all that too and it may even be true but if I waste my energy thinking that way I feel I will be ineffective because really what can you do about all that? I have to be able to sleep at night and so I am assuming that as I heard someone from the Pachamama Alliance say, who has sat with all these people - they know what is happening and they have no idea how to fix it. Some of them are just focused on trying to keep from being prosecuted for war crimes at this point.
