Yeah, Rifadin & Clindamycin oral is a classic. Soothes it for a few weeks, but very short term relief. I went on that for about six months - then my liver count did something bad - so they stopped me immediately.

There was a really interesting paper by Brookes & Griffiths called "Follicultits Decalvans - a paper that changed clinical practice"... It was published in Clinical and Experimental Dermatology 2001 (Blackwell Publishing. Terrible paper - but of incredible influence on the treatment of Folliculitis.

The authors conducted a really dodgey study of only SEVEN patients. Half of them needed further treatment within four months. None were followed up for further study. There was no definitive "cure" - but this paper has been integrally influential in treating our disease.

What this highlights to me is....

1. Most dermatologists are totally out of their depth with this
2. Being out of their depth, they base their decisions on crap studies like this one
3. The fact that the authors of this study had so few participants highlights the rarity of our condition.
