Re: Clear scalp for seven years now
Hi N68CA
Thanks for your post.
Am I "cured".... dunno. Like I said in my subject line "clear" for seven years. I have no idea if its a "cure".
Head shaving - definitely a contributing factor. I am 100% sure of that.
Clindamycin - probably soothed the original inflammation (I only applied it for about 2 weeks and the result was amazing)
Alcohol rub - I'm 100% sure that thats a contributing factor too. That stuff kills anything.
Bottom line, "cured" or not... I have had a clean head for seven years and that is fantastic.
Have I let my hair grow back? Sort of. Usually when I'm on holiday I get a bit lazy and let it grow in a bit. A week at most. Gets to about "buzz cut" military fuzz. No redness, swelling or pustules at all. But I absolutely HATE those damned corn-rows of doll-hair tufts. And all that hair highlights the scar tissue. So I go back to the shave routine for aesthetics.
Is it an internal disease? I dont know. Is it even the same disease that we are all fighting - or is it different diseases that all manifest the same symptoms of inflamation, pustules, scarring and hair loss that all get lumped together as "follicultitis"? I dont know that either. But I do agree with you that its up to each individual to find a treatment plan to either cure or manage their own specific condition.
Thus I'm delighted to find this type of support group where those of us that have found some level of success, can share this with others in a way that most dermatologists are just incapable of conveying.
Thanks again for the posting.
