Clear scalp for seven years now
Hi I'm new to this forum
I had folliculitis decalvans for about 10 years. It was mis-diagnosed by my GPs for the first 8 years as assorted Psoriasis, eczema etc. The pustules and scarring eventually took over most of the back of my head.
Then on holiday to Japan, I went to a local dermatologist in Kyoto who prescribed clindamycin suspended in raw 100% isopropyl alcohol, applied topically three times daily. I thought at first that it would sting - but it was no worse than waking up with a pillow stuck to your head.
After two weeks it was clear. That was seven years ago.
I still shave my head to be more cosmetically appealing - and after each shave, polish off with an isopropyl alcohol wipe.
The scarring will never heal - but to be free of the pustules, the pain, and the embarassment of 10 years of infection is unbelievable.
