In John 1:38, even the disciples gave Jesus only the recognition as being simply a "Rabbi"/teacher. Andrew went further and even called Jesus "the Messiah"/Christ, but Simon was simply not interested/impressed by just anyone who would speak "God talk" and play the 'God game', he only wanted to know THE Messiah/Christ, so when Andrew told Simon that "Messiah" had been found, Simon came for the sole purpose of meeting the MESSIAH.

Simon had no use for the dogmatic, ritualistic, and partisan philosophies of "religion" (which ended up rejecting Jesus anyway), Simon only had regard for what had been promised/prophesied in Mosaic/Old Testament scripture (the sending of Messiah/lamb of God). Simon (Peter) confessed/professed/recognized Jesus as the MESSIAH/Christ, not simply as a "Rabbi". The personal/individual claim or profession that Jesus is the "Messiah"/Christ while rejecting all teachings of a "Rabbi" (religious teachings) is the "foundation" of true Godliness and The Lord's TRUE church (His body).

The person at the well also had her heart set on the "Messiah" (John 4:25) while the disciples still professed Him as "Rabbi" (John 4:31).

Where is your heart? Will you just accept any religious teachings (Rabbi), or are you a holdout for "Messiah" exclusively?

It is not enough to simply "eat" of the bread of life in order to be Godly, but you must also drink of the water of The Lord (John 4:14, in SPIRIT and TRUTH, verse 23) so that "rivers of living water" (sorrow/remorse compassion, John 7:38) will come from your heart also. Only then can we recieve everything The Lord has to offer.
