Re: This is the threat
Ridiculous theories about the "Mark of the Beast" are everywhere and then some ... it involves credit cards ... it's tied to driver's licenses and/or social security numbers ... blah-blah-blah.
And though we all may PRAY to live good Christian lives ... and sincerely WANT to obey God ... and do NOT wish to come under the "Mark of the Beast" there IS somebody or some THING out there somewhere who WILL try to secretly impose that much hated and mysterious "mark" upon us by forcing us to submit to the implantation of some salvaton-stealing microchip ... or MAYBE even force an invisible identifying tattoo on us!
Oh no.
AND NOW there's panic over those dadgum black stripe thingies that appear on practically every item we buy nowadays?!?
Geez.
(Actually, I love those nifty bar codes! That method of "keeping up with inventory" has helped me get through the check stands much faster ... and are really far more accurate than human fingers on a old-fashioned cash register.)
Anyway, and this applies to any topic really, people who naturally lean toward paranoia are fair game for those who like to play upon fears; aren't they?
No one I know WORSHIPS computer-generated labels on food packages or identity numbers or swipeless credit cards ... or microchips!
Remember ... it is not only those who "receive" the "Mark of the Beast" who'll suffer God's wrath, but also those who "worship" his image!
The "mark" is not going to be forced upon us unsuspectingly ... it will be an obvious emergence when it occurs (not a speculative one) and it will also be a conscious CHOICE as to whether or not we choose to accept it (receive it.) And after choosing to receive it will we also choose to worship it.
But wait ... what is IT? What IS the mark?
I think we'll probably find the answer to that once we understand WHO or WHAT the "beast" is FIRST.
Daniel? Revelation? Anybody?
