No, Dlaertios, the "Greek Orthodox" belief in Christianity is only a certain "style" (cultural style) of belief that is not from scripture, it is from the "culture" and is only "Greek". "Lighting the candles" is only done in Orthodoxy (as far as I know). I don't know much about it, but if you truly love God, The Lord will guide you to know all of His truth. God has no need of lighting candles or putting on a show for anyone, He has no need of increasing anyone's faith, incresing our own faith is up to us. When a person chooses to love God dearly, their faith will be increased because of their LOVE (if theirs is true).
Draw near to God with your love for Him (get to know His truth more every day) and He will reward you by drawing you closer to Him.
The lighting of the candles is a Greek Orthodox cultural ritual. I never heard of that ritual anywhere else.
There are many common teachings about Christianity all over the world that are man-made and that don't have any spiritual value to a person's soul or to the creator.
The Christian bible (scripture) consists of 66 books. You can see some in different languages here...
