ahhh.... now that you mention it: store-bought, but the best quality, organic store-bought with just the milk and cultures, nothing else. I've never tried the home-made stuff (i.e. our favorite Indian Chef's raita) separate from the whole spread he does, so I assumed any mucus I got was from the other stuff and the spices. Might be worth a try at making my own. I had heard that kefir has a lot more beneficial microorganisms in it, not sure if that's true. I think if I was making both, it would be dairy overload.
