Does raw food damage the liver?
Hello all
I want to ask if liver congestion and illness could be caused by raw food?
In June 2015, I went on a high raw diet, which means that 75-100% of my food was raw fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, etc. From December 2015 to now, 3 months, I have been on a slightly lesser proportion of raw food - about 60-70%.
When I started in June 2015, I had a very mild pain in the upper right quadrant, which I think was liver pain. It went away in a few weeks. Six months later, it came back, just before or around the time I was reducing my raw intake. I did a
Liver Flush then and it went away.
In the last month, it has been back again with more frequency. Also, I have had a lot of pain and stiffness in my eyes, which is a chronic problem but has increased now - I think because of the liver issues. I have done my second
Liver Flush and the third one is due in a week.
Two days ago I had a rather large bowl of lentil soup with bread, and in the last two mornings I have woken up with substantial pain in the liver. It went away after a few hours but really worried me. This could be because of the high cooked protein content of the lentil soup, and the fact that I took it just 5 days after my liver flush, but I am worried how my liver can be so weak and so ill.
And I am unable to understand why my liver is getting worse even though I am on a diet that is supposed to be good. Mentally I feel this diet really helps in being more aware and sensitive. Physically I lost weight and more or less cured by long term sciatica, and also, my body seems to like the raw food, intuitively speaking.
In the years preceding the transition to a raw diet, I went through a lot of emotional difficulties because of toxic relationships. These have become less in the last six months or so. I am wondering if the liver problems I am having now are the result of emotional stress from a year back and more, as if it takes time for the emotional stress to show in terms of bodily damage.
At the same time, I have been reading, with much respect, the books of
Andreas Moritz and he says that raw foods create toxins because they are often not well digested, and because in the raw state plants often have toxins for self-protection. Elsewhere I read that as a corollary, the liver does not get enough clean blood because of the toxins in the blood and therefore does not regenerate itself. Also, it gets overstressed cleaning out the raw toxins from the blood.
Could the increasing liver problems be caused by my raw diet? How can one know?
I am going to be doing a
Liver Flush a month or more frequently, so even if I go off the raw food diet I don't know that whether any improvement that I experience will be because of the change in diet or because of the liver flush.
Finally, do you really think a large bowl of lentil soup 5 days after a liver flush could hurt the liver so much that it pains the next two mornings?
I would appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks.
