Edit: I removed my original message as I didn’t think it was productive

Has anyone tried tacrolimus or imuran long term? Has anyone remained healed after stopping this medication? I’m worried that these medications only provide a temporary solution and then once you come off the EC comes back.

If anyone has been on either of these medications, or any other immune modulating drug, can you please share your experience?

    After reading your post, i purchased the borax glycerin and started using it 4 to 5 times a day. The peeling has decreased dramatically and felt finally I am able to decrease the sticky sence while talking to others. It works better than any other oil or cream, so I will keep using it for upcoming months hoping to get rid of this condition.
    
    Also I am using hydrogen peroxide mouthwash (got it from iherb) and applying steroid ointment every day at night. I am following one of healing protocols mentioned in this website. You may take a look here: (https://www.curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=2058751#i)
    
    Still my lips turns white when getting contact with water (while showering) but smaller than before. The dark color is still there so far.

Hey fellow ECers, im just curious how many people with EC also happen to take supplements with Vitamin A in them? I stumbled upon some studies saying too much Vit A can cause Cheilitis (and Exfoliative Cheilitis).. Also because so many people on Accutane get really chapped lips and Accutane is very similar to Vitamin A.

I was wondering that maybe some people are genetically more sensitive to Vitamin A and get some side effects even from relatively low doses of Vit A. I personally stopped all supplements and just try to eat a healthy Diet instead.

Anyways i hope everyone is doing alright despite this condition!

Quick update for you guys

Been struggling with EC for about 6 years and have been on this forum for most of that time. Crazy I know but after 6 years with this problem I hadn’t thought to change my toothpaste because how could my toothpaste ( a product majority of the world use and is good for you) be causing a problem on the outside of my lips amirite? But yeah it’s been a few weeks since I switched to Oranurse - It’s an sls free unflavoured toothpaste and the change has been insane. Inflammation has gone all the way down, my saliva which was mucous has become normal, the cracks on the corner of my lips have reduced. Hindsight is a bitch but thankfully the worst of it is over. I know how debilitating this problem is so if this post helps a few of you guys. Great! There’s no magic product to make this issue go away you just have to find the cause and eliminate it.

Btw if you have any yellow crusting on your lips either you have an infection or your oral hygiene isn’t good enough. Fixing that is the first step to healing.

        Sorry for the late reply. I just saw it now.
        When I went to my dermatologist for the first time and he started me on the injections. he didn´t mention a plan B. I have a appointment with on 5th of August, so I´ll see what he says I should do if the injections don´t do anything (It´s been about 4 months and 20 days, and still nothing)
        Regarding the country, I am from Portugal, in Europe
        Regarding my situation, as I have said I don´t see any progress with the injections. In the meantime, a week ago, I started the anti-inflammatory diet (no gluten,dairy, sugar, red meat and nightshade food) just to try something new. I might do it for 3-6 months.
        I´m still not applying anything on my lips for about 7 months now (the quarantine and online classes help a lot with that)

        I saw the leading dermatologist for ec and she told me the laser will destroy the skin. So that has kind of put me off.

I’m in Toronto, Canada, and like much of the rest of the world, most people are wearing masks out in public. I pretty much been wearing one anywhere I go ... it’s kind of been bringing me a sense of relief to to be able to go out and not worry about if people are starring at my lips haha. Have you guys been wearing one?
