Hello everyone.
This is my first post on this forum, so please forgive for any mistakes I might make when uploading this.
From what I can see, the forum is not quite as active as it was a couple years ago. Maybe some were cured, maybe other just moved on with their lives.
I´m writing this because, as most of you, I have had EC (Exfoliate Cheilitis) for about 15 months (at least I A ALMOST SURE). The cycle is always the same: red inflamed lips, then they start getting very hard and dry, creating kind of like a hard shell, and then the crusts become yellow. When they´re like this, I can´t laugh, smile or yawn. Eating is also very hard.
I have been to a couple dermatologists and they have given me steroid creams which have, honestly, made this problem worse. The crusts are a lot bigger than they were and the affected area has grown a lot.
I am going to try to upload pictures of my lips during the process so you can see. They aren´t the best quality, but you should be able to see them.
These one are the most recent one when doing the leave alone method, at about the 60 to 70 day mark:

Then I have these two that show the red and imflamed lips, and also one week into the constant moisture method in which, if I wanted to, I could just wipe all the buildup so easily:

So now I am writing this because two days ago I went to a more expensive dermatologist and he diagnosed me psoriatic cheilitis, which is almost the same as exfoliate cheilitis if you searched for it. There are mild cases and there are more severe ones.
So moving on, this dermatologist told me that he could help with biologic injections which is basically a new form of treatment for
Psoriasis (just search "biologic therapy psoriasis" on google and you´ll find it). What you´ll also find is that each injection is very expensive, but I´m lucky enough that the national health system in my country makes it so that I can get these injections for free.
I tried searching for this treatment in this forum and I saw that someone asked if someone had tried this treatment. From what I read no one did. If there is a post in the forum about where someone tried this treatment and wrote about here, please put a link so I can read.
The injection I am taking is called "Taltz (ixekizumab)". The process is simple. You acquire the injections at a hospital with a prescription and then, the fist time. you get two injection on the first day. Then you get one shot every two weeks for 3 months. And then you get one injection every month.
As of now, I have taken the first two injection three days ago, so we will see how it goes.
This type of treatment has had extremely good results if you searched form. It´s really encouraging, but, in my case, it´s way early to draw any conclusions since it can take some time (days, weeks, maybe months)
Right now, I am writing this as sort of a medical journal to detail my experience. I will try to update every two weeks.
If you have any questions about the treatment or some of the links don´t work, don´to hesitate to tell. As I have said, this is my fist post on the forum, even when I have been reading a bunch of posts here for almost a year.
English isn´t my first language, so I´m sorry for any spelling mistakes.
Bye!
