I do believe in transcendence of the supposed barriers implemented into our drivers -

Hello Skylar,
The interest one has in living a sprirtual life is dependent on whether one is living an affluent life, or not. Discussing spiritual philosophy to a man or woman that is very very hungry, and almost starving, will not be possible. S/he will have absoultely no interest in such matters. One, first, has to be well-fed before moving onto discussing such matters. It is only when one is living in affluence, when all basic needs are taken care, will there arise the capability to move to higher realms and talk of such things.
With the animals, it is the level of hunger that switches 'on' or 'off' this survival mechanism. Animals do not have to think about it, rather it is an instinct of mother nature that does the thinking for them. At the moment that a lion is feeling well-fed, the hunger level has drop to a minimum of zero. At that moment, with survival mechanism in the 'off' mode, the lion could be said to be living an affluent life style. It has no need to be gnawing and clawing its way into the flesh of a lamb. It could be said that the lion has become spiritual, so it would appear. The same is the case with sled dogs and polar bears.
It is easy for anyone here on this forum to say that they will not take the life of another living animal when it comes down to having extreme hunger kick 'on' their survival mechanisms. Because we are all living an affluent life at this moment. We can afford to philosphize about such things. But it remains hypothetical fiction. The situation has not presented itself, at the moment, to most of us here, if not all. Perhaps, we will be put to the test in near future.
There is a personal interest I have in seeing how well I would fare with this. How 'civilized' we will remain when the biological force of survival mode kicks in big time? The time of separating wheat from chaff, so to say.
Best Regards - turiya
