Have any other Type A's out there tried the Apple Cider Vinegar for weight loss? I'm a Type A and know it's technically on the "Avoid" list but I'm debating whether or not to give it a try. I'm wondering whether anyone else has had experiences with it to share.
Due to other problems I've been pretty immobile for the past 10 months. Because of this I've packed on about 25 lbs =(. I might be grasping at straws with this and don't want to do anything that will exacerbate the gain but...???

MoreThis is a reply to # 10,594I'm type A also. I love to drink ACV in water, drink it everyday. Don't know about weight loss, as I am already thin. You should add several cups of green tea daily if you want to lose weight. But I haven't noticed any adverse reaction to ACV, if anything it must be good for me, anyway I crave it, and have more energy after I drink it. How about you do muscle testing, that way you'll know if it agrees with you personally.

I was in the Apple Cider Vinegar forum the other day and accessed a link to a website listing all of the useful things attributed to ACV. I did know someone years ago who lost 150lbs with ACV in water daily. I didn't really pay attention to it then. I didn't need to lose any weight but now,...
I am slowly getting my mobility back and intend to start hiking and jogging again ASAP, I just don't want to gain any more in the meantime. I'm eating mostly veggies and some tuna and chicken, no sweets and don't really like fruit (sweet again). It's just so frustrating.

MoreThis is a reply to # 10,596I don't know much about ACV, but I'm type A and will lose 10 lbs in a month with no exercise and no other dietary measures if I completely eliminate dairy and especially gluten (wheat, oats, barley). I think As do not process grains well and it takes the weight off my hips which regular weight loss doesn't.
I also know of a terrific weight management package by Nutrafina that helps curb appetite, bind toxic fat, helps convert fat to energy, and kicks up the metabolism. I've been using it for over a month and am seeing some steady, good results without much in the way of effort (I've watched the diet but due to an Achilles injury cannot do a lot of exercise yet).
Somehow it seems to me that As hold their weight on and it's hard to get jumpstarted. I often start a weight loss program with a few day fast to kick the "junk food" cravings and get a few pounds off right away.
Let me know what works for you!

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.
I was on Dr. D'Adamo's website the other day and there was mention that Type A persons tend to have higher levels of the chemical "Cortisol" than other types. These high levels of Cortisol make A's tend to retain weight. It's also harder for us to lose because of it. I ordered some "Cortiguard" that is supposed to help reduce the levels of Cortisol. I should get it in the next couple of days. I can let you know if I see any results after taking it.

I provided a couple of links. A couple from D'Adamo's website just stating that Types A & B have higher levels of cortisol. Another link from an MD that just generally links the high levels of cortisol with weight loss resistance. Anyway, I'm sure there's a whole lot more on the subject out there. I'll let you know how the cortiguard works though,...when it gets here. ;-)

I've been too afraid to eat an avoid, I don't think I can. One thing staff at my doctor's office told me that actually made sense was how she ate pizza. She told me the day before she eats it she loads up on beneficials and repeats this the day after. She claims no ill effects.

Well, I said I'd let you know how the "Cortiguard" worked on me. I guess I've been taking the Cortiguard (the one from Dr. D'Adamo's website) for about a month. Unfortunately, I'm really not able to say if I've experienced weight loss from it or not. Ironically, my life sort of fell apart at the same time I started taking them. Suffice to say, yes, I've had weight loss but it's because I physically can't stomach (no pun intended) the thought of eating and when I do it feels like it's not going to stay down. It's not related to the Cortiguard. It's a life trauma experience. So, I've continued taking the Cortiguard, 4 times a day, for it's effects on stress as it is supposed to lower the cortisol levels. I know I will continue to take it. As time goes on and I get through this I'm sure food will start looking better to me again and maybe then I'll be able to better judge it's effectiveness on the weight factor. Right now I'm going to trust Dr. D regarding it's positive effects on stress and keep taking it along with my vitamin, mineral and boosted B12 regimen. I'm sorry I can't give a more definitive report on it. At least not right now. I just wanted to let you know since I said I would report on it.

This is a reply to # 10,613Well, I do alot of baked salmon (only wild, never Atlantic/Farmed!!). I do love it that way with a nice romaine and alfalfa sprout salad on the side ;-). But when it comes to the ease of the canned stuff I just downright detest canned salmon. =( Yuk! I know tuna is high in mercury but I believe most anything out of the sea (that's on our beneficial or neutral list) these days is also, unfortunately.
Oh well, we do the best we can.
I checked out your discussion page and joined up. I'll be perusing it further. =)

You know, the doctor told me to eat salmon every day if I wanted it, but he also told me to eat the skin. About the only way I can do that is if it's crispy. Otherwise, it's not coming near my mouth. YUCKY! whoops sorry person opinion just leaped right out there.
About the only way I'll used canned salmon is for making salmon patties. I think I had my yearly quota of those one day a few months ago.
On mercury... apparently dental fillings also contain 50% mercury and I have 4 of them.

This is a reply to # 10,623My google failed my quest this morning. I was only able to find one source that said toxins were in the fat. The same article mentioned the fat is beneficial to us to help prevent heart disease.
I think it's damn if you do and damn if you don't.

My doctor told me sometimes our bodies do crave things that are bad for us. I do know that to be true because the whole time I was pregnant with my 1st child, I craved saurkraut. I wouldn't jump too quick to the conclusion that it must be good for you just because you crave it.

Dr. D'Adamo's Typebase 4 database has sauerkraut as an avoid for Type A.
Actually, my own doctor has eased up on my diet considerably. He told me as long as I avoid beef, pork, wheat and cow dairy, I could eat whatever I like.
I have been allowing myself prepared salad dressings again and haven't noticed any ill effects. I hadn't given sauerkraut any thought, and now thinking about it... I don't think it would be the same without sausages.
Wonder how turkey sausage is?
