One more round of fasting for '08
returning to fasting
Date: 12/18/2008 11:22:26 PM ( 16 y ) ... viewed 2407 times It is 11:59(EST) and I am one minute before my first day of fasting...it has been months since I have fasted, and unfortunately, months since I've been dedicated to raw food. Inevitably, I have gained some weight over the last few months, though nothing too daunting. I feel that in many ways, 2008 was 'round 1' of my major lifestyle change to fasting and raw food...as with any major change (at least for me) I am bound to screw up once in a while. How about a three month screw up? This is about how long I believe I've been messing up...too long!
One advantage of not having fasted in so very long is I expect my fasting "side effects" to be very noticeable. Earlier this year, as I neared my third and fourth fast, things went so easy (too easy?) I think I may have started to take fasting and my other lifestyle changes for granted. Maybe I just got lazy. I definitely got distracted with my boyfriend and his horrible eating habits (who is out of the picture now, pretty much). So, as I head into this fast, I expect to see some changes that are obvious. This will probably include: that overall 'shrinking' feeling (usually within 3 days or so)...the clearer vision...the whitening of my teeth and eyes...of course, there are the muscle aches, insomnia, emotional upheaval, and other things I will expect since I am sure I have become fairly toxic over the last few months of eating out a lot, eating way less raw food and my exercising dwindling down to an occasional hike or swim. Not good.
OK...ten minutes in...I will take this fast one hour at a time...I plan on doing a fast of filtered water cut with citrus juice (definitely a much higher ratio of water to fruit juice) and this one will go 5 days...going to break gently for the holidays and stick to mainly raw food...then revert back to pure water after the new year. That is the game plan. As for the next few days...I plan to read 'The Miracle of Fasting', do some cleaning (mainly the kitchen which won't be getting dirtier for a while) and start throwing some stuff out/give away in anticipation of my move for 2009, and "round 2" of my major lifestyle changes. More later.
