March Fasting - Day 7
Thoughts on Jan and Feb fasting and update on current fast
Date: 3/5/2008 1:57:07 AM ( 16 y ) ... viewed 1826 times After a few weeks of loading up on nutrients, I am on the water fasting train again. This is the wee hours of Day 7 - i've got a case of the fasting insomnia, so I am making the best of that by reading some good Curezone stuff =)
So far, the fast is going along very uneventfully. Unlike the first two fasts of this year, I am having no major muscle aches, and limited hunger pangs. I am only taking pure water, and absolutely no supplements. My temp has been good - around 98 (good for me, with my Hypothyroidism). I have walked no more than 2 miles briskly a few times so far. My intention is to fast for 21 or so days, though this is not written in stone. I may only go 14 days and break gently/slowly with juice and fruit. I am determined to break this fast correctly and I am more concerned with that then meeting the 21 day mark. Upon reflecting on the prior two fasts, I realize my anxiety connected with breaking the fast has always resulted in either rushing the eating process along with too much food (good food, but too much) or entirely the wrong foods. I believe this is connected with my issues with overeating, which I am trying to deal with as I go through this fasting journey. Each fast, I have felt my digestive system taking a sloooow time to recover, and I think I need to respect my body and ease into the breaking of the fast with more care.
One thing to note regarding the first two fasts of 2008 - though both of these were experimental in nature, really, and I did as many things wrong as I did right, I have to say that I think my PCOS has been affected somewhat by the fasting. In Feb, I had the first "somewhat" normal period I have had in over two years. It only lasted 4 days instead of the usual 14 days (yes, 14 days - not every month - usually every other month) I had become used to over the last few years. It was somewhat painful and still pretty heavy, but not as severe as in the past. I am REALLY excited to see if this is a pattern, and if it continues to improve. It really meant a lot to me that I saw this change, and I totally attribute it to the fasting and raw diet changes I have made. And, on the subject of changes, one of my neighbors asked me if I was losing weight - I had no idea it was even obvious (I don't think I've lost that much) and being overweight like I am, a little isn't usually noticeable...but I guess it is! That made my day of course =)
