Earth Treasure Vase   13 y
I am very excited! Cynthia Jurs will be in California this weekend with two of the Earth Treasure Vases that are part of a global practice to bring healing and protection to the Earth. The two vases are dedicated to South Africa and Australia and will be ceremonially buried in those two places. You can participate by going to the website and writing a prayer for the earth to be typed out and put into one of the 7 earth vessels yet to be buried!

My Prayer: "Dear Mother Earth, please forgive us for all of our transgressions against You and all of your children upon You-- your waters, your air, your soil, your tree people, plant people, rock people, gem and mineral people, animal people, and humans. We are thankful for Your love and nurturance. Dear Spirit, thank You for the strength to overcome our weaknesses, unite together to restore our Mother, cease from our wars and our destruction, and usher in a new era of one thousand years of Peace upon the Earth. Thank you. Namaste, Amen. And so it is. " http:// ...   read more

Art:Mother & Child   13 y
Non-toxic milk paint on wooden board

"Mother and Child" by Mayah 3-1-2011             Milk Paint on board 16" X 18" In 2006 I spent 10 days in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest at a shaman’s family compound, participating in Ceremony with medicina . The figure of the mother and child is inspired from a sketch I did at the time. This is the first time I’ve painted on wood. I tried using milk paint before on paper and on cardboard but it goes on thickly and the work ends up curling all around the edges. I acquired a lot o ...   read more

Art:3 WaterColors   13 y
REVISED! Three watercolor paintings done recently. Photos were taken after the art was framed and under glass so they are a bit fuzzy (plus I just noticed my shadow is on them, too!)

”Fruit Bowl” by Mayah 2-2011 11” X 14” Watercolor and ink assemblage You can’t tell from the photo, but this is an assemblage. Each fruit was drawn, painted, and inked as a whole piece separately, then cut out. Then the bowl was drawn as a whole and cut out, as was the bowl handle. All of the pieces were then assembled and glued on top of one another, then onto the black art paper, which was glued onto a separate piece of watercolor paper painted yellow around the perimeter. The various thicknesses of the work gives it a bit of a 3-D look. I really like doing the assemblage. ...   read more

Art:More "Plastics"!   13 y
Two more projects using recycled/reused components.

War of the Plastics by Mayah 2-26-2011 Made with recycled plastic washers and ”twisties” (what are those thingies called, anyway?), recycled springs, toothpicks, one sheet of black art paper, reused cardboard backing, Elmer’s glue, red marking pen. The faces are emoticons typed, printed, and cut out from one sheet of orange art paper. The blue pentagon washer heads are fighting the gray circular washer heads. Their kings duke it out in the middle of the action. Several plastic warriors have lost their heads. The two little children in the bottom right hand corner are crying ...   read more

Art:Bottlebrush Photoshopped!   13 y
Messing around on photoshop, created an art piece from a mundane photo. Let YOUR inner child play! Have fun!

photo by Mayah, Fall 2010 I took this photo of my bottlebrush bush this past Fall, in full bloom. PhotoArt by Mayah 2-20-2011 Messing around on photoshop, this is what was created using various filters, one of which was called "stained glass". How fun! I printed one out on photo paper and framed it! Watercolor Pencil Fun!   13 y
More art from my "inner child". These three drawings were made using watercolor pencils and a fine point ink pen.

I recently discovered watercolor pencils--They look just like regular colored pencils, and you can use them the same way as pencils to color and sketch. When you put a bit of water on the drawings with a small paint brush, voila’! The colors blend and smooth into watercolor! I find this much more fun and easier to use than regular watercolor paints.  All art by Mayah, 11" X 14", watercolor pencil and ink, created February 2011. REVISED!Have been letting my "inner child" play the past couple of days, using tissue paper and re-used cardboard. It was fun! Let YOUR inner child come out to play! The object is to have fun, not to create a masterpiece! Fun for children, too!

I like to use materials I have salvaged from everyday use. These crafts are made out of a re-used cereal box, re-used cardboard, a salvaged old picture frame found moldering in the garage, and paper scraps from previous art projects. I even used the washers and springs from my empty homeopathy remedy spray bottles (the glass was recycled)! This is funny!  After I took the photo above, I counted and recounted all of the parts on the art piece and realized that one dark blue washer and one spring had fallen off! I put the parts back on and took another photo below, then realized ...   read more

Love Matters Most   13 y
Beautiful, heartfelt speech. Cried all the way through it. Did you hear it in its entirety? This man, if he wasn't President, would have made a great minister. He is, in my opinion, full of Spirit. What a wonderous time we live in, when the President of the United States of America can be, not a RELIGIOUSLY DOGMATIC, but a SPIRITUAL politician.

"...(What) most of us do when we lose somebody in our family -- especially if the loss is unexpected. We’re shaken out of our routines. We’re forced to look inward. We reflect on the past: Did we spend enough time with an aging parent, we wonder. Did we express our gratitude for all the sacrifices that they made for us? Did we tell a spouse just how desperately we loved them, not just once in a while but every single day? So sudden loss causes us to look backward -- but it also forces us to look forward; to reflect on the present and the future, on the manner in which we live our ...   read more

Bastet/Feral Cat   13 y
Need help with feral cat! Anyone know how to socialize/cage one?

I took this picture of Bastet yesterday. She’s a beautiful little cat with bright blue eyes. I think she’s at least part Siamese. She looks young to me, maybe not much past kitten-hood. Adolescent? Photo by Mayah 1-4-2011   Last month, a cat adopted me. She’s been living in my garage. I’ve named her Bastet, after the Egyptian cat goddess. She’s feral, very shy, and initially wouldn’t let me get close to her. After about a week of feeding her, she approached me, meowing loudly. I took this to mean "where’s my food?!?!" I fed her, and then squat ...   read more

What Is Prayer?   14 y
Mary Hunt channels Mary, Mother of Yeshua, also known by the names of Kwan Yin, Isis, and many other names of the Divine Feminine, to answer the question "What is Prayer?"

Yes, we will tell you about prayer. If you are standing by a still pond and you would toss a pebble in the pond, You understand what would happen; That the ripples would go out from that pond in all directions. You understand that from a human standpoint; from a physics standpoint. That is what prayer is. Prayer is putting out a positive thought. Many religions teach you to bow down and to pray for forgiveness. We ask you, do not bother praying for forgiveness children, for there is nothing to forgive you for. We have not judged you for anything you have ever done. No ...   read more

This is a fantastic program from PBS--it took the camerawoman 18 months to get all of the shots. 50 minutes, and well worth the watch!!

Holiday Story   14 y
Story: "Friends are God's way of taking care of us."

This was written by a Metro Denver Hospice Physician: I was driving home from a meeting this evening about 5, stuck in traffic on Colorado Blvd., and the car started to choke and splutter and die - I barely managed to coast, cursing, into a gas station, glad only that I would not be blocking traffic and would have a somewhat warm spot to wait for the tow truck. It wouldn’t even turn over. Before I could make the call, I saw a woman walking out of the quickie mart building, and it looked like she slipped on some ice and fell into a gas pump, so I got out to see if she was okay. ...   read more
