Art:Spirit Owl   12 y
MORE Eco Art! "Eco Art by mayah" utilizes reused materials and earth friendlier art supplies.

Eco Art: "Spirit Owl" by mayah (c)2012 This was an Eco MaG that I decided to refurbish and frame. The piece is attached to the front of the frame so it can "stick out" in 3-D effect, rather than be put behind the glass. The rippled cardboard is packaging from an old light bulb--they don’t make light bulb packaging this way anymore and I miss it!  The background photo of the forest from a calendar is wrapped with plastic from packaging; the owl sits on top of the plastic and sticks up for a bit of 3-D effect.   Eco Art: "Medi ...   read more

Shocking EcoArt!   12 y
"On first glance, every piece in artist Chris Jordan’s collection, “Running the Numbers,” appears to be simply a beautiful work of modern art. But look more closely, and you’ll see that each piece depicts the enormous amount of natural resources we consume and throw away – represented by plastic bags, light bulbs or packing peanuts. Here’s a sample of works from Jordan’s thought-provoking collection."

”Caps Seurat” by Chris Jordan, 2011 From ”Shocking Eco Art: Our Waste by the Numbers” http://earth911.com/news/2012/02/15/chris-jordan-running-the-numbers-shocking-eco-art/ ”Look closely at this homage to Georges Seurat’s famous painting, ’A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,’ and you’ll see the 400,000 plastic bottle caps Jordan painted to represent the average number of plastic bottles consumed in the U.S. every minute.” ”Bottle caps are often so small that it’s easy to overlook the impact they have on the environment. Spirit Bears only live on the coast of British Columbia.
