This is dangerous advice. I study vitamin A in the field. Preformed vitamin A is markedly toxic and different people have different levels of tolerance for it.
Supplementing with vitamin A is quite risky. I have consulted with a group of doctors who are proposing that the FDA lower the RDA from 5,000 IU per day down to around 600 IU. They, and I, believe that people are chronically overdosing on it given that it is in most fortified foods and a lot of people take it in a supplemental form.
Getting anything over a few hundred IU per day of retinol is risky.
