Thank you very much for all your help. I understand that Paleo may not always necessarily be low-carb but the current version of Paleo that the naturopath has me on definitely is- I am only allowed veggies & protein and 2 fruits a day. I definitely have issues with Carbs as when I went home over Christmas I just decided to try eating normally (plus all the Christmas goodies) to see if digestive issues would just disappear if I ate normally. The result was severe abdominal pain and diarrhea for 2 weeks. It was awful. Shortly after was when I was diagnosed with Candida and the diet stopped the diarrhea and pain (though it comes back every once in awhile). I definitely agree that I dont think the diet is the best for me. I expressed my concerns to the Dr. and he just told me to eat more avocado and coconut to get more calories.
Any suggestions on how to improve digestion and avoid intolerances when transitioning to a regular carb or regular diet? I want to be able to eat carbs and everything but am afraid of returning to feeling horribly sick, as I need to work, live etc. I definitely have candida in the intestine... how can I eradicate it? Everything I see points to this diet...
