I have suffered from hypnic jerks while falling asleap for about three years. I was convinced I was going coocoo. I tried everything!
I have been taking a tblsp of blackstrap molasses in hot water in the morning. I am trying to drink at least 64
oz of water a day with a pinch of salt in each glass full. I avoid caffeine and alcohol. I avoid processed foods as well as cow dairy products, and limit red meat. I take digestive enzyme caps after a meal. I have also recently had vitamin b shots. They are cheap at $20 each. I had taken vitamin B in pill form and in massive quantities before this, and with little result. I also take some melatonin at night. Long story short I feel tons better and am no longer an exhausted, paranoid nervous reck, who couldn't remember a thing and who just felt like death was immenant. Bright lights and noises, were a nightmare. I suffered with migraines every day.
I do not know which of these things is helping. Do not give up and keep looking. Maybe it is a combination? I also did a lemonade cleanse for three weeks which I feel also helped.
I found out from a doc that I was allergic to many processed foods. After I cut them out I was no longer tired all the time. I was so tired I couldn't even sleep. One of my hypnic jerks was so violent that my whole body jumped about an
inch off the bed I was lying on.
