Re: Need advice about my daughter
Hello.
Re:
"
Oh my gosh--thank you very much for your insight, support and suggestions.
"
You're welcome anytime.
"
My daughter got her CT scan today and even though the ENT doctor who ordered it wasn't in today, I had another radiologist give me his opinion...seems it is a chronic infection esp. on the right side [primarily the right nostril is blowing black debris] and that from the looks of it, she has had this infection a long time and needs aggressive antibiotics.
"
If the problem is in fact Chronic, may I suggest that aggressive antibiotics alone may NOT solve her situation permanently, no matter how high the dosages? I believe I have some evidence in this regard.
"
Apparently, no "mass" or anything so thank god for that.
"
Well, "no mass" is good news for you because it means they won't be 'poking around' in that direction. You wouldn't want that headache, I'm sure.
"
But my daughter has been having other weird pain today, on other parts of her body, mainly on her lower back near the spinal column and more pain in her face, esp. near her temple so I can't get in fast enough tomorrow, even though this pain may be completely unrelated.
"
Maybe, maybe NOT. Since you asked for my opinion, I would say that IT IS with great confidence (over 90%). I'm willing to bet good money that any inquiring m.d. [the other kind] that examines her mucocutaneous layer is likely to find "something" there, "extending anterior to posterior" from face to trunk [they should know what this means]. I would bet also that this is NOT the sole cause of the problem. [I don't like to bet much, but when I do I like to be sure I'll win all the time.]
"
This ENT is supposed to be one of the best around here in Northern Virginia, but has a terrible 'bedside' manner. Nonetheless, I will "fire" her, if I still feel she is not really addressing my concerns.
"
Well if you do, don't tell her you spoke to m.d.'s [not her kind]. [j/k]
"
This ENT doctor will read it tomorrow and has indicated that she may want to drain her sinuses surgically, depending upon the scan...which I guess I feel ok about
"
If I were her parent, I wouldn't. Just a student's opinion.
"
but am still worried about it spreading with anything invasive.
"
In my opinion, you don't need to worry about it spreading; I think it already has, from what you tell me.
"
Thanks for all you help and welcome any other thoughts you have ..!

Track this down and get rid of it anyway you can NOW before it gets worse. Over time, experience tells us, it would. If they put her on Antibiotics alone [antibacterial agents], in my humble opinion that could be a mistake. If she's thin now and some years afterwards she gets overweight all of a sudden, make no mistake: It's the same problem, in my opinion. If she improves and gets better after the treatment, but doesn't feel "quite like herself", the problem is still inside her, latent and waiting. I have learned that Chronic problems are TOUGH, but when they go, they go 100% all the way and aren't likely to come back.
