Re: I Love My IUD.

you dont need to defend or "stick up" for the mirena, it is not a person with feelings that can be hurt. however, what you are doing is playing with the feelings of other people on here, with your generalisations.
firstly, it is wrong to say that all the side effects are explained to everyone - how can you make any assumption like that?? i was told that there could be Depression in suspectable people - ie people who may have had Depression before. i was also told that there could be headaches in "headachey people" - i had never suffered with headaches, so there should be no problem there. The consultant said that apart from that, there were no side effects to mirena. FULL STOP!
Some people have not even been told that much.
It was only when i started getting severe side effects (numbness all down my left side, migraines being the most serious) that i found out that Mirena has many more side effects than that. They do not effect every one obviously, and i am very pleased for anyone who they do not effect. But you have no right to judge others who have genuine side effects to any drug, including the drug used in Mirena.
As for saying that weight gain, back pain, lack of sex drive and loss of energy are all psychological - you obviously have not read the official side effect list of mirena - there are various independant drug sites on the internet which do list all of those as genuine side effects, plus many more information.
I hope if you tell all your friends to have the mirena, and one or two of them get side effects, that you will be more supportive to them in their time of need, than telling them it's all in the mind and to just put up with it.
We all know that there are users of Mirena who get on fine with it - just as with any medication, some people will tolerate it and feel good with it, and others will feel terrible with it and it may do them actual harm. I am sure i speak for many of us on this forum, when i say that we do not have a problem with people who have had no side effects from mirena, in fact, we are pleased to hear a success story now and again - so why should you have a problem with people who have suffered terrible effects in their lives with the Mirena. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't bother.
