Bravo, Hopinso
I haven't posted for awhile, but I do remember a number of Plasticat's posts. You hit the nail on the head, Hopinso.
Plasticat, whether you are "religious" or not there is a story that might apply to you, specifically. In the Book of Job, Job is beset with sores, boils, infection, and the like and he continues praying to God for healing. He keeps begging to be healed of his pain and anguish. At one point, he stops feeling sorry for himself and his condition and begins praying for others. That's when his life begins an upturn for the best.
I would urge you to pay heed to Hopinso's suggestions: get out and LIVE, regardless of your appearance. I have known many, many people who were worse off than you and still managed to go out amongst people and live their lives to the fullest extent that their bodies would allow. One woman whom I was honored to meet had suffered 3rd degree burns over 60% of her body. She had no face, to speak of, though she could speak and blink what was left of her eyelids. She had no fingers or toes - the had been singed off when her boiler exploded in the basement while she was tending to laundry. This woman was in her early 20's when this happened. Her recovery took years and dozens of surgeries. When I met her, she was taking ballet and jazz dancing.
If you choose to give up, then whatever is tearing your body up wins. If you choose to begin the emotional cleansings, then YOU will win, whether you are scarred or not. I have known many people who would be termed physically attractive and their souls are as black as the bottom of an abyss. Perhaps, you could decide which path you wish to tread: light and joy IN SPITE of personal tribulation; or, darkness, despair, and lonliness.
Again, best wishes to you.
