Re: "mini" tapeworm?

There is such a thing as a dwarf tapeworm, but I've only seen larval images. The appearance is quite different from your typical tape. And the name says it all.

Have you googled (click images at top) the various nematodes and cestodes?

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/cestode

ces·tode (sstd)
n.
Any of various parasitic flatworms of the class Cestoda, including the tapeworms, having a long flat body equipped with a specialized organ of attachment at one end.

cestode - ribbon-like flatworms that are parasitic in the intestines of humans and other vertebrates
tapeworm
flatworm, platyhelminth - parasitic or free-living worms having a flattened body
Cestoda, class Cestoda - tapeworms
echinococcus - Tapeworms whose larvae are parasitic in humans and domestic animals
taenia - Tapeworms parasitic in humans which uses the pig as its intermediate host

Lots of images to sort through (google video search keyword: cestode):

I'd hone in on what you might be dealing with by checking out the CDC site:

Then go back to google and search images of a more specific species.

I can think of too many ways that a 4 month old nursed (correct?) baby (only?) could contract something like this. I'd take into consideration to that end ALL proceedures including vaccinations (anything, not sure what infants are subjected to at birth and beyond) at any hospital, etc.

It seems baby contracted something like this either from breast feeding, during gestation (from mother, or via any kind of "treatment" from the point of birth, during birth. The possibilities in a hospital setting seem endless to me (opinion).

Otherwise, I would need to ask more about your diet during pregnancy, prior to pregnancy, and particularly while nursing. Is pork in your diet in any way? Do you eat raw vegetables which might not have been properly wahed? Milk - does mother drink milk and what kind (milk products also). Did mother recieve any infections of any kind before, during or after pregnancy.

Also mother and baby's environment. Pets, outdoor activity, geography, vegetation, water sources (lakes, ponds, pools, etc.)

SO much to think about.

I am shocked an at a loss for words as things relate to this egregious false negative lab report. An outrage.

Please keep us informed as you pursue things. Thank you for sharing all that you have.
