Re: Ain't scared of Iodine, am scared of Niacin

Hi Glax,

Just thought I'd let you know that we share some similar reactions to Iodine supplementing. I just started having some perimenopause symptoms about a year ago and hot flushes/night sweats have been bothering me much more frequently since starting the iodine. The benefits have far out weighed this one draw back so I'm going to continue taking iodine. I've recently read about niacin and will start taking it in conjunction with sauna therapy and iodine.
I have not been successful with the salt water flush either. I have tried it many times and almost always retain the salt water. I've tried extra hydration prior to the flush, adjusting the salt and water temp. with little success. I though I might be salt deficient but have been adding salt to my diet regularly for the past six weeks. I'm at the point where I won't try SWF (Salt-Water-Flush) any more as it makes me feel lousy for most of the day. I'm thinking my blood pressure must go up a bit when I retain the salt.
As far as the fear of niacin goes, I always believe in listen to your inner dialogue. Often times thoughts and feelings are well founded. For years I have been disregarding the recommendations of my family physician. At one point she gave me a one year prescription for the nsaid viox. I never filled it. I'm very thankful for that inner wisdom. Funny how I have absolutely no fear of Iodine supplementation.
