Right, that's what I mean. There is a lot of room for agreeing with people and where I can just be happy rather than be "right" -- but not around the health of my kids. Believe me, I have learned this in a crash course with doctors, friends, etc. Nothing is as stressful as trying to tell a young doctor why you don't want shots for your kids. Jeez! That was horrible. Why? My deeply held beliefs vs. hers. My kids' health vs. her professional self-image, which if you ask me is pretty personal, too, with pediatricians. It was dreadful. I thought she was going to pop, or that I was going to have to pop her!
Now if it had been a disagreement about something easy -- say, politics or religion, I would have been OK with just keeping my mouth shut and finding the part of her belief that I could agree with.
