Based on the work of Ghent, Low, Hill, Abrams, and Miller, I conclude that the Iodine in the kelp and the magnesium and calcium in the kelp in their ogranic forms are solely responsible fot its health benefits. The Japanese know this as well, and one will not see them drinking hydrated lime. But, the individual is free to choose for themselves ! I prefer kale & cabbages over limewater.
