Re: WOW!I just had mine removed yesterday!

Thanks for the tips.

I did have a complete fasting blood panel done and everything was normal including my thyroid hormone level, liver enzyme count, and glucose tolerance. I have a B.S. in Nutrition from UC Davis, so I know quite a bit about nutrient imbalances; therefore, I knew poor nutrient intake was not the cause of my problems. I feel that it is too much of a coincidence that these other women on mirena have had similar issues, and it seem to be the only logical explanation for my symptoms. Every symptom I mention in my first posting are post-mirena insertion.

To answer your other questions: my tongue is fine, I have 20/15 vision, I don't have bags under my eyes (well not yet LOL), I have zero stretch marks even from my two pregnancies (I take after my mom), and I have never had spider veins (my sis was the unlucky one in that department).

I know my body just can't handle being on hormones of any kind. The hormone in mirena is a form of progesterone which is know to cause a lot of these symptoms. I was misinformed by my doctor that is should not cause me any problems since it is such a low dose. Anyway, don't get me wrong. I really do appreciate all the help that I can get along with many other women on this forum, and it is helpful to look at all angles. This solidifies my belief that the mirena is the root of my problems. I now know from your questions that I can rule out the most basic and likely causes of these issues that would normally be the cause of so many problems. Through nutrition and exercise, I plan on reversing the effects mirena has had on my body. It won't happen overnight, but at least the thing isn't in my body anymore. I agree with another forum member that when it was removed, it was like my body exhaled. I feel like I have a chance to be normal again.

Just a side not:

I had my period yesterday for the first time in over 3 years. Mirena causes most women to not have a period. It can't be healthy to a woman's body to throw off such an important rhythm like that. Homeostasis is a delicate balance, and I can just imagine what kinds of problems can be the result of fooling with the very core of our womanhood. Well, now I can more than imagine, I know firsthand along with all of you on this forum.

Thanks again and take care.
