Re: candida
Hi Fiona, yes indeed, you were right about the candida connection! Over the past few months I've been doing a strict candida diet, and tested lots of antifungals. So far I like the P&B shakes used in conjunction with SF722 (and even by itself, SF722 is amazing stuff). I posted a lot of that info in a later post on this forum, which you can read above.
As for the serotonin issue, I think that the inflammation caused by the yeast in the small intestine (leaky gut) prevents sufficient absorption of tryptophane, which is the chemical precursor of serotonin. Even before learning of the yeast situation, I'd been taking 5-HTP, which is the intermediate compound between tryptophane and serotonin. With the HTP supplementation, my
Depression went away. Now that I've been healing my intestine with safe foods and L-glutamine supplements, I've noticed that I don't need to take as much HTP to avoid becoming depressed. This suggests to me that my intestine is healing, and that it is absorbing nutrients better than before. YeeeHawwwwww!
Needless to say, my quality of life has seriously gotten better, with improved mental abilities, physical, etc. And of course, don't forget the vastly improved resistance to alcoholic urges. You are right: dealing with the physical side of alcoholism (yeast) is half the battle, and makes fighting the other half (psychological) a helluva lot easier.
Thanks for all of your amazing posts on this forum!
