Re: Alternative Treaments for Bacterial Vaginosis
Hi:
Not insulted, but if you read through the posts it seemed as though everyone was more interested letting me know that my husband was doing something behind my back then how to help "MANY" women who continue to get BV over and over. Anyways, I know that by having sex it can bring on BV. But having your period can also bring it on as well. I had a friend who got it from an IUD. The stories go on and on and on. The first time I got BV I hadn't had sex with anyone, but had been taking soooo many
Antibiotics from a series of sinus infections I guess my immune system was so weak that it popped up.
My OB/GYN that I have been going to for 9 years told me that the reason I get it when my husband and i have sex is that men's semon (7.0-8.0) tends to be much higher in PH than our vagina (4.0-4.5)and when mixed together can make the imbalance that causes BV (not in all women, but apparantly me). That's why I really only get it when we have sex. Occasionally, I will get it when I'm sick or when I get my period (which also disrupts your PH). As far as us both being treated its kinda useless. We did that in the beginning many, many times with
Antibiotics and other natural remedies as well. My doctor told me that once you get BV, it's very hard to break the cycle of reaccuring breakouts. Also, she said that its the #1 thing women come into her office to get treated for (even more than yeast infections). I'm going to try what I read right here on this forum about inserting 2 acidophilus capsules every day for a week and then once a day a few times a week as a preventitive. Thanks for clarifying though...I appreciate it!
