help - my 18 years old son severe eczema

My son 18 years old has severe eczema on his face since end of last year.
It is very bad, flared ups, swollen, peeling, and itching.
He had been taking oral prednisone for a few months from March this year and stopped a month ago after symptom seems go away.
Now, it is back. My son will be in college in the coming fall, only two weeks away.
He refuses go to college if his face is not getting better which I doubt any thing can change significantly in short term.
He is now backing to take prednisone again but it does not work well with initial dose of 40mg (he was starting 60mg at first time).
Now, my son feels hopeless and un-fightable eczema and feels his life has no future since he would not be in his college.
We as parents keep finding any thing, any solution, any hope, any support and etc from any one of you.
Thanks,
