Have you thought about trying quinoa? I quickly became a fan of this little known grain/seed...and prefer it to eating rice as it does not feel heavy in the stomach after eating it. Quinoa has up to 14% protein and has a light, slightly nutty taste. You can find organic quinoa in any health food store and most markets that have a well developed bulk food aisle should carry it too. Make sure it is well rinsed and prepare it like you would rice in a ratio of 2 water to 1 grain. I serve mine with a bit of butter and steamed broccoli.
