Re: What do you think of the Essene Gospels?
I have never read the Essene Gospel, but I'm familiar with it's philosophy. I have heard from a messianic Jew Rabbi that Jewish dietary laws the jews follow exist for a reason - Wisdom created them. It is strange to me that christians seem to think that they are immune to basic laws of nature.
I am not what some might consider to be devout, because I am not devoted to man-created religions, such as christianity. But I am loyal to God. I pray that he reveals truth to me in whichever way He chooses to. I guess I am affiliated with christianity in the sense that I desire to be affiliated with Christ.
I homeschool my son and we belong to an online group that has forum structures very similar to those at Curezone. Once I read a post from someone who's screen name was known to almost everyone. She proceeded to slander this poor man that belonged to her church for talking to people about natural health cures and the dangers of chemicals in our foods. She quoted the bible to prove her point, but left out the real context and spirit of the very message she was using. I have seen countless christians do this.
I must admit, I became quite angry at this injustice, and fired back a response (specifically with the Curezone group in mind) that unless she could lay hands on this man and see him healed that she had no justification for her campaign. I said something very similar to what you say here, bluandyelo, that some people need to get well physically in order to have to desire and energy to follow a religious system, let alone sense your own innate spirituality. And I also stated that some of the kindest, most compassionate and aware individuals were the kind of folks that are interested in natural health and healing.
