Bawa was quite a unique teacher. The conventional muslims called him a Hindu and the Hindus called him a muslim. His teachings are universal and apply to all religions.

Actually the majority in Sri Lanka are Buddhists. The tamils in the northern part of the island are a minority. Bawa spoke Tamil and lived for many years in Jaffna in the Tamil area.

The muslim women from Sri Lanka dress in Saris and cook curries etc.
