Re: Infantile Eczema .... Is it curable by medicines?

Dear Parent,
I have a son the same age as your child. His illness history resembles your child's. That is why I decide to write to you, although I don't have any magical medicine for you. I do have some lessons learned from my painful experience I like to share. I don't want you go through the same route as I did because it meant severe sufferring of the poor child.

My son was born with little rash on his face. It was not itchy at all. The doctor said it was baby rash and it will go away soon. Then when he was 2 month old, I took him to a different city to visit his grandma and he got full body rash from some allergen. But it didn't bother him at all. He was playing and smiling all the time. It did bother me. I took him to a local peditrician. That WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I EVER MADE in my life. The doc prescribed oral steroids for 4 days. It cleared up his body rash instantly. However, the rash on his face stayed and became very itchy. A week later, he developed fever. I didn't know what to do and take him to another ped. This doc prescribed oral Antibiotics despite the blood test shows the fever is brought upon by virus. This definitely started my son on his painful battle with eczema.

The following year, he had a few ear infections. Each time he was given Antibiotics . And after each course on the Antibiotics , I see the rash spread and spread,..... Then I realized that the conventional medicine is doing all the harm to his body. I switched to alternative medicine. I got some ayurveda doctor to treat him. He was on his herbal medicine for 5 month and drink only goat's milk exclusively even when he was 18 month old. At the end of his treatment, his skin started to flake like snow. All his legs are covered with flaky skin. It was so hard for me to see. I stopped the medince and he got better although still chanllenging.

Then I heard this condition was caused by leaky gut. I contacted eczema-usa.com and bought thousands of dollars supplements to treat him. He had some initial reaction. The doc said it was die-off. So I stayed on the treatment. Then two month later the rash started to spread to most of his body and he became more itchy. His skin became flaky again. This is when I realized that the supplements (although natual) are doing harm to him again.

Now, with young kids, I want to tell every parent who reads this message that supplements may not be good to them. One reason is that they are young. They can not handle the supplements adults take. Another reason (just my opinion), supplements can be toxic too. For eczema patients, you already have an overload of toxin in your body. You don't need more. Although my son still suffers severely, I realize that changing his diet, giving him more nutrition through foods and providing a loving and happy environment should be the way. At least, this approach won't make him worse.

I hope your child will be out of this misery soon. The homeopahy treatment he is going through is not good to him. I was on your boat, I kept telling myself that the treatment may work one day if I try long enough. But that day will never come. AND your son's condition is already getting worse. You need find a way to stop the medicine soon.
