Re: Help with implementing Nourishing Traditions!! Especially Raw Milk
I haven't read all the replies yet so this may be redundant.
It is fine to get organic milk that is pasteurized and culture it yourself. Kefir is easy to make, and it will introduce friendly milk-loving bacteria to your daughter's GI tract. I've heard wonderful things about goats's milk it the treatment of exczema as it is more hypo-allergenic than cow's milk.
Is everything so expensive in FL? If your neighbors are so inclined, perhaps you could find another source that is maybe a little farther away and take turns making big pick-ups. If not, milk can be frozen. We are moving an hour away from our cow share soon and I'm planning to get a month's worth of milk at once and freeze it.
At all costs, please avoid plain old grocery store milk! It is DEAD and causes so many digestive problems, if not now than down the road. Of course you are probably already aware of the other problems with the stuff.
It wouldn't hurt to ask a local farmer that you trust if he would share some milk with you...
