My kefir culture smells like alcohol, Why?

Hello my kefir family(smiles),
I have noticed for the past coulpe of day my kefir smells like alcohol and I poured the liquid down the drain. Why is this happening? Could it be that they are still recovering from their trip and not quite ready yet? I am using goat's milk, wish it was raw but I can't find it raw anywere near me. I am doing everything right, I think? but I did kinda have the lid tight on the jar maybe this is why huh?
