Re: Bullied by doctor

Hi! Just wanted to know if you live in NY or NC...I have had an awful experience with a doctor in NC that sounds just like your experience. Except this doctor suggested that I was an awful mother (because not vaccinating him on the AAP schedule--I was told by a pediatric neurologist in Westchester NY to not get him vaccinated due to hypertonia, hyper reflexia, and a severely immature nervous system! He did not even care when I showed him the report!), that I probably dont have any books at home for him to read, and I probably didnt have a car seat! I was flabberghasted...let him give my son a shot (which I regret...went to a different doctor who is absolutely awesome to find out the awful doctor gave my son a recalled vaccination! And I did sooo much research before going!) What the doctor did not know was that I am a pediatric speech language pathologist...specialist in birth to 5...with many years of experience with children on the autistic spectrum! I called him from my office (worked part time 2 days a week) to let him know we have mutual patients and that he was DEAD WRONG in treating me this way! It was an important lesson that we have to be strong and knowledgeable with dealing with doctors---We are our children's best and most important advocate!!! Tweet
