Re: Desperate Mom of 8 month old baby w/ Eczema
Hello Suzanna,
That's great news about Noah's skin. It could be a combination of both things (the Alimentum and the moisturizer) that's producing the improvement in your son's skin. I'm not familiar with the Pure Baby Eczema Care; however it sounds promising. Some people would probably question the petroleum jelly, but it seems that the formulation (combination and portion of ingredients) are working to benefit your son's sensitive skin and promote the healing that you've been searching for. Is it a light consistency or is it more heavy?
I want to do some more investigation for you regarding sunscreen (for my nieces as well) before I give you a definitive answer regarding the sunscreen (they're going to the beach in a week).
Dust mites like fabrics such as carpeting, bedding and drapes. Vacuuming more frequently and washing the bed linens in hot water are good in ridding the home of dust mites. It seems that the detergent you're currently using is sufficient based on your observations with your son's onesies (good observation). It is that observation that also hints at dust mites as a possible culprit as well. As a top covering (apart from the sheets), do you use any blankets (knitted or wool) for night time covering? Besides being a place for dust mites to hide, the yarns (especially in wool) are particularly harsh on the skin and would be considered eczema irritants. The chemical makeup of the polyester serves as an eczema irritant as well.
Wow, I just realized, in typing my response to you, that you've possibly identified two possible allergens/irritants. That was quick! I'll get back to you regarding the sunscreen as soon as possible; however if you beat me to it, let me know what you find (smile).
