Re: Desperate Mom of 8 month old baby w/ Eczema
Hello Aunty---
Im always excited when you post with your sound advice. I have to say, the past 2 days, Noah's skin is markedly improved. He is on Alimentum.....SO EXPENSIVE but of course worth evey penny if it improves his skin. However, I am also using Pure Baby Eczema Care....so who knows which is helping? Have you heard of this lotion...Got it in Eckerd...just saw it on the shelf...a wrong shelf and it caught my eye..thought it was a sign so i got it. Ingredients are water aloe, biotin, petroleum, sesame oil and some other stuff---hypoall, frag free & dye free. Maybe I am missing something very obvious....in terms of an allergen. Of that list, I can only think of food (although I have completely weaned him and no longer need to worry about what I am eating and how it effects his skin) and maybe dust mites....how do you know if you ahve excessive DM...I know they exist everywhere.....Im careful about changing sheets etc?????
The pattern on his body is tricky. HIs first flare up two months...it was everywhere, horrible on his stomach. BUt now his stomach is clear. His entire back side of his body is eczema free except behind the knees. The worst areas are his leg fronts, forearms, face and neck. Whole daiper area is fine. I thought it might be detergent but the area where his onsie covers is fine. Onesies are 100% cotton. I never put any crazy fabrics on him, but I noticed some of his suits I thought were all cotton have some polyester...I wonder if that could be it.
Ive read some suggestions about washing baby clothes in baking powder or peroxide. Have you heard of this?
Thanks for the info about Elidel. Yes...I see synthetic, even non steroid, is not the answer.
And yes...I need to relax. thanks for the reminder!

PS---With the summer coming, Im thinking about sunscreen and worried about sensitivties to it. Any suggestions?
