Re: Unclean lemons & other musings

lol
We should all use common sense, no doubt about it. Sure, everybody has different standards but after many people finally saw in the toilet what lived inside their bodies they are just more attentive to basic hygiene.
It's incredibly unwise, to say the least to pick up your food from the floor, lick your fingers counting money (yuk, the biggest parasites container)or in the doctor's office ,kiss your puppy and
swallow lake water, swimming there.
I was taught since my childhood what's no-no and later in life the normal sense of squeamishness saved me from many troubles. My household washes their hands right after we step into the house. No one is permitted in their street shoes inside. Sorry, I clean the damn house!
We wash hands after using the rest rooms (including in the house).
Same after feeding the dogs. Is it too fancy or "girlish"? No, it's common sense.
Our skin has more protective power than saliva and using antibacterial soap 24/7 kills the skin's ability to do so. I personally use it only after I come back home, after handling the pets, gardening or dealing with a sick person.
But! I don't eat at the houses where I saw how some women cooked and used their hands serving and cooking. I can't take it.
I don't start cooking myself before I wash my hands, put on an apron, make a pony tail( you won't find hair in my food). I don't drink water in the restaurants where they don't have glasses but plastic (well, I don't drink water with my meal anyway). We don't sneeze, cough without covering the mouth. We don't use each other toothbrush and towels. I or my husband serve food and drink in the house when we have guests because I had a displeasure to have a "buffet" once. What else.. Besides of the mouth there are other "gates" in the body that will allow bacteria in and frankly speaking I doubt anybody here will sit on the dirty chair with nakid butt or have sex with black nails.
Of course we don't walk around in mask or spray the house and guests with Lysol (some need it!)but boy.. I saw the households where parasites are almost visible.
After all, good manners are not only good, they all have health reasons. It's impossible to act like kids and think we're protected like them. If we simply enforce at home some basic manners and basic hygiene paranoia to be reinfected will go away..
