Re: Explanation
I have to agree with trapper/kcmo, here.
If I were a "blog owner" on some ISP and my ISP censored my posts, I would take my posts elsewhere. Given that this is a free service, provided by CureZone, however, there is wiggle room, but in general, a person has a right to speak his mind, and if the blog "owner" is actually an "owner", then he should bear the responsibility for whatever venom he spews, not CureZone.
The
Support Forums deserve moderator protection. The whole point is support, and no one visiting a forum intended for support should have to play defender of the realm, no matter what I or anyone else might think.
I accept the limited moderator involvement in
Debate Forums because I know that the easiest way for either side of a debate to derail a forum is to devolve into name calling contests that jack up the noise content of the forum and drown everything else out, including the actual debate.
Other than that, however, I don't see much need for moderator involvement, especially not with blogs.
Given that I can block/hide a person's messages, and I can hide
Debate Forums , why not have the ability to hide individual blogs, too? I mean, if someone finds anothers blog titles offensive, let alone the content, then a block of this sort would at least give them some peace of mind.
More work for Webmaster, though.
While I'm inventing more work for Webmaster, let me just say that, blog owners should be able to remove unwanted replies and block individuals from replying (and, possibly, operate the blog in a restricted fashion that only those invited to reply may do so). All other moderator privileges, however, should remain with moderators (such as Recommended/Newsletter designation, editing posts for content, whatever).
Does my vote count for anything? *grin*
