9 + 2 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 7 +5 = 42 then 4 + 2 = 6, so 6 = your Life Path is '6'
and
9 + (2+9) + (1+9+7+5) = 9 + 11 + 22 = 42, 4 + 2 = 6
(11 and 22 don't usually get reduced lower in numerology)

By using the chart on the site below, the name Mary would be 4 + 1 + 9 + 7 = 21 and Smith would be 1 + 4 + 9 + 2 + 8 = 24

2 + 1 = 3, 2 + 4 = 6, and 3 + 6 = 9
So Mary Smith's Name number would be '9' (assuming her parents didn't give her a middle name!)

Hmm, that's odd: For some reason, I simply had never included my middle name when doing my name number and just always accepted '8'. Just did the full "birth certificate" name and found I'm actually an '11'. Cool. My Lifepath is a "7" which definitely is soooo me. But, that changes my destiny (lifepath + name according to the worn out book in front of me) number to a '9'. News to me! LOL
